Your first Facebook and Instagram ad on a small budget
Advertising doesn't have to start big. A small, well-planned test teaches you more than guessing, and helps you find what brings in customers before you spend more.
1. Choose one goal
For most local businesses, "Get more messages" or "Get more calls" is the best start, because it brings conversations, not just likes.
2. Define a sensible audience
Choose the area you actually serve, a realistic age range and a few relevant interests. Avoid making it too narrow at first: Meta needs room to find the right people.
3. Make one strong ad
A short vertical video with a clear hook, your offer and a call to action. Put your key message in the first line of text, since longer text gets cut off.
4. Set a small daily budget
Run it for about a week. That's usually enough time for the system to learn and for you to see early results.
5. Measure what matters
- Cost per message or call, not likes.
- How many conversations turned into paying customers.
- Which ad or audience did best.
6. Reply fast
Ads bring people to your inbox. If replies take hours, many will have moved on. Fast, friendly replies are where ads turn into sales.
