WhatsApp or a contact form? How to turn visitors into enquiries
You can have a beautiful website and still get very few enquiries. Often the problem isn't the design: it's that getting in touch takes too much effort. The two main options are WhatsApp and a contact form, and they suit different situations.
When WhatsApp wins
For most local businesses, WhatsApp is the better first choice. It's already on every customer's phone, it feels personal, and replies arrive where people are already chatting. It works especially well for:
- Quick questions: "Do you have this in stock?", "Can you fit me in on Saturday?"
- Services where people want to send photos, like repairs, renovations or beauty treatments.
- Customers on mobile, which is most of them.
When a form is better
A contact form makes sense when you need specific information before you can help, like a project brief, a budget or a delivery address. It also suits businesses that want enquiries to go to a shared inbox rather than one person's phone.
The best of both: a form that opens WhatsApp
You don't have to choose. On the Nzinga Group website we built, the quote form asks for the details the team needs, then opens WhatsApp with everything already filled in. The customer just taps send and adds photos. The business gets complete enquiries; the customer gets the ease of WhatsApp.
Five tricks that get more enquiries
- Start the message for them. A WhatsApp link can include text like "Hi, I'm interested in…". People are far more likely to send a message that's already started.
- Put the button everywhere. In the header, at the end of every section, and floating in the corner of the screen.
- Say how fast you reply. "We reply within an hour" makes people more confident about reaching out.
- Ask fewer questions. Every extra form field loses people. Ask only what you need for the first reply.
- Track it. Count WhatsApp taps in Google Analytics so you know which pages and adverts bring in enquiries.
